Thermoelectric Characteristics of Bi2Te3 Cylindrical Micro-Wires under Radial Electric Field Effect

Abstract.
The thermoelectric figure of merit ZT and Seebeck coeficient are calculated for the bipolar Bi2Te3 wire of a classical size under applied radial electric field. We slightly improved the mathematical background, which has been used to study planar thermoelectric structures. Poisson's equation was solved numerically to calculate the electrical potential using Newton's method. The radial variation of the local Seebeck coeficient, carrier concentration and band edge diagram are investigated theoretically. It is shown that applying a certain electric field can increase the thermoelectric figure of merit thrice.
