Numerical Studies for Obtaining Single-Mode Vertically Coupled Micro Ring Resonators

Abstract.
In this work we present the numerical analysis results for a new proposed vertically coupled micro ring resonator. The main problem encountered in designing such structures is related to the multi-mode behavior of the ring waveguide. Our studies shows that the single-mode operation of the micro ring resonator can be achieved by using a lateral offset between ring and the bus waveguide.
